Did anyone watch The Bachelor this season?  I must say that I was glued to the TV for every single episode this time.  But the last episode got me thinking about Jesus and His awesome love for us...

These final few girls have totally put their hearts on their sleeves for this one guy.  They feel that they've fallen in love with this guy and that he may share that sentiment.  They are "rocked to the core" and their "lives have been changed forever" by this one guy.  None of us wanted Moana (the "first runner up") to win Travis... but it's her devistated and broken heart after he didn't choose her that made me think about Jesus.  Knowing that we would be beings who would make our own decisions in life, who would hurt Him in so many ways, who would deny Him so many more times than Peter ever could, who would completely break His heart over and over again, and also knowing that we would need a Savior to take our place in death, a Savior that loves us unconditionally and completely... Jesus came to this earth in the form of a man (leaving the awesome position of the right hand of God), walked this earth just as we do, experienced all the temptations and trials and sadness and joy, etc. that we do, and died as a sacrifice for us.  He totally put His whole heart on the table for us to do whatever we want with... we can choose to trample it, throw it away, spit on it... like so many of us do... or we can grasp it, hold on to it, and cherish Him forever.  What a perfect, awesome, and amazing love that is that, knowing everything we will ever do to Him, Jesus would still lay His whole heart out there for us.  Wow.

"Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will do it." ~Psalm 37:4-5

That's my verse and promise to grasp for 2006.  Pretty powerful huh?
